The basic requirement for the secure operation of all electrical systems in a data centre are a functional earthing system and equipotential bonding. By the implementation phase, everything must be right – retrospective corrections are almost impossible.

Note about standards

For the installation of earthing systems and equipotential bonding networks for buildings, BS 18014 and BS EN 50310 apply, for example. In conjunction with lightning protection  systems taking an LEMP concept into account, the requirements of BS EN 62305-3 and -4 must also be heeded.
